Ice Dog Atom White Starts Playoffs With A Win
The Arran Elderslie Atom White Ice Dogs hit the road for their first playoff game on Saturday afternoon. Shallow Lake Lakers would be the first opponent of the round robin series.
Both teams hadn't played in a while so the play was a little tentative at the beginning. The Ice Dogs would get on the board early when Gavin H. buried a rebound after some nice work along the boards by Ryan P and George P. It was 1-0 after the first intermission.
The second period began with the Lakers getting a goal on a turnover deep inside Ice Dog territory. But, Ryan P would go top bunk on another juicy rebound to give the Ice Dogs the lead (assisted by Austin G.). Gavin H. would strike again on a face off deep inside the Laker zone. (assisted by Ryan P and George P). Colby H. finished off the Ice Dog scoring for the second period (assisted by Tash B). The Lakers would get one back on a buzzer beater late in the second and it was 4-2 Ice Dogs at the second intermission.
The Ice Dogs would play shut down hockey the rest of the way but not before Tash B. went on a rush to complete the scoring (assisted by Ryan P). Make the final 5-2 Ice Dogs.
A good start to the playoffs---next up, Saugeen Shores on Feb 19th in Paisley.
