Ice Dogs Battle the Rebels!
The TCDMHA Rebels and Arran Elderslie Ice Dogs are getting to know each other a little too well as many of the two associations teams are renewing acquaintances this week.  The Ice Dogs put one in the win column when the Atom Rep team earned a hard fought 2-1 victory Monday night.  The Novice Rep Ice Dogs were looking to do the same tonight.

These two teams last played on Sunday afternoon at the Elroy Cumming Novice Tournament when the Rebels skated away with a 5-0 victory in the Consolation Final.  But the Ice Dogs proved they do not know the meaning of the word quit and came to play tonight.

It was all Ice Dogs early on as duo of Cole L and Owen M started things off by applying relentless pressure and created scoring chance after scoring chance.  The Rebel goalie has some of the best numbers in the league and turned aside the dogged attack of the Ice Dogs.  Puck hounds Austin L. and Brayden P. kept creating turnovers and it looked like the Ice Dogs would break through with a goal.  Toward the end of the period, the Rebels pounced on a loose puck and ricocheted one off a leg and by a surprised Peyton L.

The Ice Dogs kept on coming though and finally were rewarded when super sniper Landon B. jumped on a loose puck, skated in uncontested and put a sweet move on the Rebel tender to tie the game at one apiece.  The second period was a penalty filled affair and Owen W. was tireless on the penalty kill as he turned aside the Rebel attack.  The defence tandems of Logan H/Anderson G and Alek F./Tyler B. were full marks for their defensive effort the entire game and kept the Rebels at bay.

The third period started with a bit of bad luck for the Ice Dogs as the Rebels pounced on another wayward puck and took a 2-1 lead.  Rookie sensation Ethan S. went to work after that and skated in a breakaway but was denied by the Rebel goalie.  Soon after, Ian M. aggressively forechecked and caused a turnover that gave Landon B. a scoring chance.  The Ice Dogs kept pressing and were all over the puck and the Rebel zone but couldn't find the back of the net.  The Rebels would get one more to make the score 3-1.

Great character building game Ice Dogs!  You really deserved a better fate with that effort!  Your coaches, parents and fans were entertained to a great game tonight!  Next up, the Walkerton Capitals are on the menu...Look out Capitals, these 'Dogs are hungry for a win!
