Novice Rep Ice Dogs kick off the New Year in Keady
The Arran-Elderslie Novice Rep Ice Dogs were looking for a little payback as they visited Keady to tangle with the TCDMHA Rebels
The Ice Dogs were ready to start this one and applied relentless pressure to begin the game. However, despite their hard work, a couple of bad bounces put the Rebels up 2-0 at the first intermission.
The Ice Dogs kept playing their game and finally broke through on the scoreboard when Ethan S. took a nice pass from Owen W. and ripped one off the post and in to make the game 2-1. The two teams continued to trade goals and it was Landon B. doing the damage for the Ice Dogs as he ripped a couple of goals in the 2nd period with the assists going to Cole L. The 2nd period ended with the Ice Dogs trailing by a couple of goals.
The third started well for the Ice Dogs as Austin L. made a nice play along the boards to feed Landon B., who placed a no doubter into the top of the Rebel net to notch his first hat trick of the season. The Rebels would go on to get a couple of goals back to end the game. Overall, the team played very well and the Ice Dog defence had a very strong game with Tyler B. earning his first Hardest Working Ice Dog of the game.
The Ice Dogs would end up on the wrong side of a 7-4 score but they served notice that 2017 is going to be the Year of the Ice Dog...next up, the Walkerton Capitals on Saturday.
