Game in Tara!!
Drayton game to our big arena for game 2 and while the shots for and against were very tight, this game ended up in the Drayton win bin. 3 for them and one for us. (Welcome back Clay!)
The game in Tara got off to another one of our patented clock stuck starts. But that gave time to welcome Clay back after his forced rest. Once the game was underway, he showed much we needed his hustle. And on a shot from the red line on the way back to the bench, he got the Dogs on the scoreboard. The Dogs held that lead for the entire first period and even outshot the competition 8 to 7.
The second period was just as close in terms of total shots on net (12 for us and two extra for them). There was a great game of find the puck at 13:42, when it was located on the top of the net. The Dogs played some tight hockey but Drayton is a solid team and they tied it up at 9:52, and would get the go-ahead during a Dog penalty late in the period. But Lawson was keeping the Dogs in it, especially with his patented sit-on-it save! But Drayton now had two.
After a brief rest, the Dogs came back renewed. Skates were quick. The period flew by since no one came to sit in the glass box at all for us. There was a a powerplay chance but Drayton kept it tight in their end. The clock was running down. The Dogs were outshooting Drayton this period. It was time to pull Lawson, But Drayton was ready for it and at 1:23, Drayton got their third. Again, the Dogs sent out six skaters, but it was not enough and the score remained 1 to 3, for them.
But here the Dogs come again....
