It was a great start for the Atom Rep IceDogs at the Dave Taylor Memorial Tournament in Paisley Friday night. In their first game they faced the Owen Sound Jr Attack Select team.
It started out not looking good for the Ice Dogs as the Owen Sound team jumped out to an early lead scoring only 47 seconds into the first period. Jr Attack #4 managed to sneak one in on the short side of the Dogs goalie
Tyson L. However, The IceDogs fought back and less than a minute later the Ice Dogs tied it back up with a goal by
Jake M. assisted by
Cameron M. This was followed by another IceDogs goal only 7 seconds later by
Emmett J. assisted by
Josh E. Then Rob I. (AP) scored again inside the next minute assisted by
Jake M.
Second Period the IceDogs used their lead to carry the momentum. In the first two minutes of period two
Emmett J. with a little help from
Ryan C. and
Cameron M. made the gap a little bigger. The Jr. Attack knew that they needed to step up their game. And they did, they held off the IceDogs through much of the period. Until at 2:44
Kayden W. made a nice pass to
Kiernan L. who quickly shot it past the Jr Attack Goaltender. Score at the end of period 2 5-1 IceDogs.
Period three was more of the same. Jr. Attack defense doing a great job of making hard work for the IceDogs forwards. However as the period went on there were more goals for the Icedogs, 2 for
Ryan C. and one more for the hat-trick for
Emmett J. Showing their true team spirit assists were awarded to
Cameron M. Josh E. and Kaylan H. Final score 8-1 IceDogs.
Tournament Player of the game was
Jake M.
