The Bantam LL Ice Dogs started a 'home and away' series with five other teams and West Grey #2 was our first victims !!
Both games were shootouts as we came up winners on both games with scores of 7-4 and 7-6.
The first game started out with Brock hitting Brandon with a great pass, who came in all alone and fired it in the bottom corner. Conlan then broke in all alone and picked a corner to tie the game at 2-2 going into the second period. Lawson again was keeping us in the game with great saves, and Brandon and Tie did the 'give and go' with the puck, with Brandon finishing it off. Todd then surprised their goalie with a shot just over the blue line, which bounced off his glove and found the back of the net, ending the second period with the Ice Dogs up 4-3. The third period had Mitch VV doing the 'scoot and shoot', streaking in and putting the puck in the back of the net. Tie then got into the action by jumping on Brandon's rebound and stuffing the puck in. West Grey decided to take a time out, but Tie took the break to score another goal on a sweet deke after a pass from Brock, and we ended the game with a 7-4 win.
The second game today was another goal fest, with Lawson saving our 'bacon' over and over, and we rewarded him with some goals in the second period, started first by Todd, who after getting a pass from Tyler, fired the puck in the low, stick side. West Grey scored three quick goals, but we woke up and Todd scored again with a nice wrist shot after getting a pass from Brandon. The third period was a mad dash to the end,with Brandon passing again, this time to Brock, who shot it in putting us up 4-3. Todd then came down the ice and put in a rare back-handed goal in, then Connor fired in a point shot, and that was quickly followed by a goal by Conlan, West Grey had three goals of their own, (and another time out), but Brandon replied with a hard fought rebound goal, and West Grey decided to pull their goalie with seconds to go, but to no avail... the game ended with a 7-6, mad scramble win !!!
