3 day weekend, 3 hockey games in 3 towns sure does make it
an exciting weekend!!
The A/E Icedogs Novice LL Red team chalked up 1 win and 2 losses this past weekend but boy did they try hard!! First we started in Lions Head where Mother Nature teased us a little with the “S” Word however our drive was a good one. This game was against the Bruce Peninsula Northstars #1 and wow was our team pumped!!! Coach Pat decided to mix things up a bit and use Lauren J. as both a forward and a defense player and boy did she prove that she could play any position and score from the red line to help secure the win. Good Job Lauren!!! Final score was 3-1 Icedogs. Saturday Morning was a little harder for our team having a late drive home from Lions Head and then back up to Shallow Lake the next morning for our second game of the weekend versus the Shallow Lake Lakers #1 team. There was a lot of ice movement back and forth going through 2 periods scoreless until the 3rd where Shallow Lake scored 2 goals ending the game with a loss for the Icedogs. Final score was 2-0 for Shallow Lake. All players were then told to get to bed early so they can get a good night sleep for Sunday’s game versus the Saugeen Shores Storm #3 team. This game was going to be an interesting one and the team was ready to go to work and try to pull off a win to make up for the loss the previous day. We were off to a great start scoring 2 goals in the first period and then held them off to only 1 goal in the second. The final score was 3-2, another loss for the Icedogs but they proved they can keep it an even game right to the bitter end!! This team sure is showing that they can play the game with Larkin G winning a lot of faceoffs over the weekend and Dominick E. playing an outstanding 3 min shift halfway through the game on Sunday. Keep up the Awesome Hockey Icedogs!!!
Our next practice will be Thursday in Tara at 7pm followed by another trip to Shallow Lake on Saturday for a game at 11 am and then back to Tara for a game vs the Bruce Peninsula #1 Team at 1pm on Sunday. Hope to see you all there!!
