First Silver Stick outing had promise
On Monday night, the Ice Dogs traveled to Wingham to begin their Silver Stick tournament for 2013.  While we came up on the short end of the score, there were a few positives to consider.

The first period of game 1 was an even affair until late in the frame when Shelburne scored to break the draw.  There were, however, bouts of better offence in the period, just not enough sustained pressure to get any large number of shots on net.

Tyson worked hard to keep us in the game, but late in the second the Dogs caved a little under the pressure, giving our opponents a little more breathing room.  A nice offensive pass on a 2 on 1 in the third led to our only goal of the game and the end of a 4 game scoring drought.

In the end the Ice Dogs succumbed to a 5-1 deficit, but there were a few positives to take away.  For one, the wingers were noticeably better in our own end and in the offensive rush, though more work clearly remains to be done.  Defensively, we were stronger on the puck when in position, and definitely won a few more battles on the boards.  And while we work on these positives for game 2 Thursday night, more passing and more shots are still needed.  AE only managed 6 shots and 3 scoring opportunities in the game.

Congrats to Braydon for scoring the lone goal (assisted by Jakob and Clayton); he was the player of the game for Arran-Elderslie.

On a side note, please continue to check our website and calendar for ice time changes.  We now have a home-and-home set vs. Bruce Pen during the break, and this Saturday's practice has been moved back to Friday night.  The game on December 23rd is also being rescheduled.  Check back often.
