AEMHA Atom Girls Bring Home 2nd Win Against Walkerton!
A repeat of the intense 1-0 game from the day before was inevitable. On January 13th the AEMHA Atom Girls brought their winning streak up to 5 games with a 2nd win in two days against the Walkerton Capitals.

Just 55 seconds into the game Jaydn W. put one in the net assisted by Sarah W., setting the tone for an aggressive game by the IceDogs.   Even with the advantage of a tripping penalty by the Capitals it appeared the IceDogs could not score again. At the end of period one the IceDogs were evenly matched shot for shot with the Capitals. Jaydn W. brought the score up to 2-0 in the last minute.

The Capitals stepped up their game in the 2nd period, out shooting the IceDogs.  It was not enough to get past the IceDogs Goalie. At the end of the period the score was still 2-0 IceDogs.

The Capitals came back even harder in the third scoring twice to tie it up in the first 2 minutes.  Emily Me. picked up a shot from her defense and brought the IceDogs ahead by one again at 11:53 remaining. The Capitals continued their assault on the IceDogs defense.  With 8 minutes remaining Capitals forward Emma F. gave Jaydn W. an elbow when fighting for the puck and received 2 minutes for body contact. A time out was requested in the last five minutes of play, but despite Hockey Canada Rules (Rule 84,section F,Note 3) the referees refused.  In the last minute of play the Capitals pulled their goaltender but the battle was lost.  Final score 3-2 IceDogs.
