Ice Dogs bring home the hardware!
The Ice Dogs played 4 hard fought games yesterday on home ice, and when the day was over, they brought home the bronze in style!

It all came down the consolation final yesterday vs. the North Bruce Predators.  Avenging an earlier let down earlier in the day, the Dogs came out as determined as possible after a 4 game day.

While the chances were decidedly in our favour, a series of second period penalities--including a 5-3 disadvantage--left us struggling against fatigue and momentum.  After two, it was North Bruce 1, AE nothing.  And until midway through the third, it seemed as though 1 might be enough in this dogged affair.  That is, until Waykin took a pretty pass and blasted a puck from the hash marks that somehow made five hole.  A few late chances ensued, but the buzzer found us knotted at 1 apiece.  When overtime solved nothing, it came down to a shoot-out for all the marbles.

Gavin went first, demonstrating his great moves--both in deking out the goalie, and in celebrating canoe style!  Their top sniper matched the move, bringing us to Baden.  He failed to put the disk in when he ran out of real estate, but Bradley once again bailed us out with a save.  Our last shooter was Logan who squeaked one through, but without enough mustard to find its way in.  Their last shooter--with the game on the line--was stone-walled by The Great Wall of Bradley, and we were off to sudden-death shots.

Enter Liam.  He casually broke up the ice, and with a sudden blast on the ice found five hole for the lead.  Bradley spared the parents from any further suspense by shutting the door, and the celebration ensued.

On the day, Bradley, Liam, Gavin, and Logan all won player of the game awards, and all our boys came home with a commemorative puck, their bronze medallions, and of course, the consolation champ's trophy.

Congrats boys, on an exciting end to the day.

A special thank you to all the parents who pulled through to make the day happen.  Many of you worked beyond the call of your shifts and in the end, it was well worth it as we gave our boys a lasting hockey memory.
