Is There an Echo in Here In Here?
Last week's postponed game against Shallow Lake 2 set up a weekend of back to back show-downs against one of the league's best teams.  The two games sound like an echo.

On Saturday, the Dogs hosted Shallow Lake 2 in Chesley.  On Sunday, the second leg of the home and home played out in Shallow Lake.  In the first game, the Lakers struck early and often, netting three in the first period despite some promising looking plays for AE that didn't materialize.  On Sunday, the Lakers were held off the board early while the Ice Dogs managed some positive-looking plays early.

After an early 3-0 deficit Saturday, the Ice Dogs managed to hold off Shallow Lake for the rest of the game, even making a late rush at getting on the board.  However, the boys could only muster 4 shots on net in the game, and all of them came in the last 11 minutes.

On Sunday, most of the Ice Dog chances came early, but unable to convert, they spent most of the game holding the Lakers back.  But the dam burst late in the second, and like the game Saturday, the Lakers won Sunday by a score of 3-0.  Bradley won the game puck Saturday for a series of great saves to keep it close;  Bradley won the game puck Sunday for a series of great saves to keep it close.  Is there an echo in here?

Although the Ice Dogs are winless in 2013, and scoreless now in four games (counting the tournament), there are some clear positives to focus on, especially in terms of some notable passes of late (finally!), and some offensive forechecking that looks a little more determined.  Getting pucks out safely is still a little iffy, but the ability for the boys to focus on the positives going forward (and putting these losses behind them) is a testament to their determination, and Todd's coaching.

Coming up: the Ice Dogs last season games, playoffs, and our tournament on February 16.
