Rascally Rebels!
Although playing in the dark Keady arena is usually lucky for the IceDogs, it wasn't this weekend.  It was one of those games when suddenly things go a little...looney.  Doggies tried to rise above it, but Rebels took it.  Final:  3 to 2.

This weekend's match up with Rebels started inauspiciously when some equipment being AWOL for our goalie, but we countered with having our backup goalie ready to go!  Ashlynn started the game and proved her worth through the whole first period.  It looked like our IceDog luck was going strong when  Mitch (#19) made the pass to Lawson (#8) who put it away.  IceDogs played hard. Mitch rang the post.  Chayse made a complete belly pass.  Ashlynn made the big stops.  Rebels were putting the pressure on us and we were responding.  But a late period penalty to us gave the Alphabet Soups the chance to sneak one by with only 53 seconds left.  The period ended tied.
The second period started with Tyson between the pipes and a pair of borrowed blades on his feet.  We pick up another penalty responding to some questionable Rebel activity and we see some wild defensive moves, especially Clayton, and the Rebels didn't get a goal.  Tyson made a great save at 4:04.  And at 2:02.  Then the IceDogs went after their goalie with everything we had.  But no goal.  What great goaltenders we have in GreyBruce!  The period ended tied.
This was the period when the luck turned.  We picked up a penalty at 6:32 and the Rebels hate to miss a powerplay.  With a weird bounce of the puck that makes you think about Looney Tune cartoons, they scored.  Then the puck freezes under the feet of a couple of IceDogs at 3:29 and a long armed Rebel tap it under Ty. Weird.  But the sign of a great sportsperson is to continue on despite all adversity.  The IceDogs battled their way through this period and they weren't going to quit.  Mitchell (#19) gave a great demonstration of that fighting spirit with only 1:02 left.  A beauty goal!  With 42 second left, Coach called time and we pulled the goalie.  We PULLED the GOALIE!!  The puck never left their end under the final two seconds, but the luck was against us.  No goal.  And after the whistle, a cheap shot from a Rebel player made their whole win look pretty cheap!  But I guess the Dogs were getting under their skin.  And we're going to do it again!!  Go IceDogs!!
