Dogs Saw Their Shadows on Saturday
The Rebels came through whiteouts to play in Tara and the snow apparently didn't blind them at all! Despite a moment or two, the IceDogs were more focused on Wiarton Willie's prediction than the game, and Rebel are ahead in series. Final 1 to 4.
From the first wonky goal of the Rebels in the first period, a squishy line change penalty for us and another last minute goal for them, it seemed like prediction of an early spring for the Dogs was a possibility. The Dogs were feeling pretty low. But the one bright moment for the Ice Dogs was the solo run of (#19) Mitchell with only 26.3 seconds left. Beauty goal!
The IceDogs were fired up after that goal and kept trying to get something going in the second period but it was just icing after icing. Tyson kept the IceDogs alive, but the Rebels pressed on and the Dogs floundered. The last 20 seconds of the second were excruciating. And the the momentum was gone. The Rebels would dominate the third period and add two more to their tally. Final: 4 for Rebels and 1 for us. Dogs down by one in series.
