IceDogs Return to Win Column vs Huskies
They always say the most important shift, save or game is the next one--and that was the case on Wednesday as the AEMHA U15 Rep IceDogs headed to Hensel to play the Mid-Huron Huskies in their 2nd last game of the playoff round robin.
The IceDogs must have been a little ticked about their loss on Sunday because they came out with a vengeance on this night. Relentless (and I mean relentless) pressure, forechecking and attack led to 5 first period goals. First, Jesse banged home a rebound off a terrific play by Owen W at the blue line. Then, Alek F. would snipe one from the top of the circle (assisted by Karden C. and Simon J). Ethan S. would get on the board with a rip job, benefiting from a great cycle game of Brayden P and Carter G. Porter B. would score on a ridiculously great play by Ethan and Simon and Ian M. would cap the first period onslaught, smashing home a shot from the slot on a great pass by Jake F. and Jesse P.
With the game in full control, the IceDogs predictably let off the throttle but still managed to make some plays and most importantly, limit the Husky chances. In fact, if it wasn't for the Husky net minder, they would have potted 5 more! An IceDog power play led to Brayden P and Jesse P getting the puck to Ethan for a ricochet shot and it was 6-0 at the recess.
The third period was a little sloppier as the Huskies refused to quit but Jake F. would keep his red-hot play going with a wrap around goal and Ethan S. would collect another off a sick pass from Alek F. The Huskies would get a flukey one to end the game but it was all IceDogs in this one and we even earned the praise of the other team's coaches.
The win sets up a show-down on Sunday--Drayton Defenders will come to Chesley for a win and you're in game...should be a beauty--calling on IceDog fans to come on out and help cheer this team on as they try to punch their ticket to the big prize at the end of the season.
