Atom Rep - Heading up North with 'C' Dog
Submitted By Rick Van Veen on Monday, February 20, 2012
The quarter- finals of the OMHA playoffs had the Atom Rep Ice Dogs playing the Almaguin Ice Devils in Burk's Falls and Sundridge on the weekend.

With 'C' Dog coming on the road trip for inspiration, the Ice Dogs started Saturdays game off with a first period goal in the top  corner by Mitch V. Things began to fall apart in the second period, as we let in three quick goals in five minutes to change the game very quickly. Graham scored a nice one during that crazy second period, but the Ice Devils scored two more to lead the game 5-2 going into the third. The last period was a see-saw battle with each team fighting hard to take control of the game, and Graham scored again to make things a little closer, but time ran out and the first game went to Almaguin.
The rest of the day was made for team bonding, as we had a great meal at ESM's and some crazy swimming at the Motel 6 pool, with thirst quenchers for the adults.

Sunday saw the team head to Sundridge (and a bigger rink),and the Ice Dogs came out flying (thanks to Jerry for the new 'Blaster' for the dressing room). Quick goals by Graham and Jason T powered the Ice Dogs to a 2-1 lead going into the second period.
With Cameron playing solid in net, Tyler scored a much needed goal midway through the period, which was quickly followed by a goal by the Ice Devils. The third period was shaping up to be a race to the finish, and what a finish it was. With 3:31 left in the game, Jason T fired his second goal of the game, but eight seconds later Almaguin scored to make it 4-3. Then with time running out, and Almaguin's goalie pulled for a extra attacker, the mighty Ice Dogs hung on to the end to head home with the series tied 1-1.

What a game ... nice job Ice Dogs.
